Just awakening & the hair has taken a life of its own. There's no driftwood in this piece, but features interesting characteristics of the woods. The inscrutable walnut face was inspired by a trip to a museum in Vancouver, British Columbia featuring Inuit and NW Indian art.
The hair is from a piece of Manzanita root from Texas and extremely dense. Works more like stone, and can finish to an extremely smooth finish.
The Buckeye Burl completes the piece with a nice color contrast.
